Cotton itself represents a dark history in Black American culture.

For this set of photos I wanted to touch base with my own history in accordance with American Black culture mixed in with modern day beauty in an American society who has almost completely forgotten about what it put its Black inhabitants through. I'm sure you've seen these aesthetically pure beautiful photographs in cotton fields of beautiful women not of black descent which serve no meaningful value or purpose. I have made this series out to compete against those who have took this blindfolded history for granted. This is the now, and this is how I view America's dissociation of it's black culture and slavery. Although we've been glorified, we have yet to find liberation from the hate that was hammered into our skin from the beginning of American history.
